BIA Testing

bia1BIA stands for Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis. BIA testing is the most advanced assessment of body composition, health and aging that is non-invasive and reproducible.

Why Do People Need A BIA Test?

To measure your hydration status

Chronic Dehydration is malnutrition at the cellular level. Cells require water to make energy and remove waste.

When  water moves out of the cell and into the surrounding fluids to dilute toxins, you will have inflammation.

To measure your body’s healing ability & aging process

Your phase angle will tell you how well you’re aging.

To measure your cell membrane function

When a person is low in healthy fats, cell membrane structure and function will be compromised.

To measure and assess your body composition

Being overly fat is the # 1 biomarker      for accelerated aging and lowered life        expectancy.  Toxins are stored in the fat cells.  Fat contributes to the inflammatory     cascade.

To measure your body’s basic energy needs

It takes energy for your body to heal.

To measure the flow of energy in your body

If this is very low it indicates inflammation and stress.

The BIA does not diagnose any particular disease, but measures your level of health. In reality, we are only as healthy as our cells.

 Preparing For Your BIA Test

  • bia3Do not exercise or take a sauna within 8 hours of your test.
  • Refrain from drinking alcohol for 12 hours prior to your test.
  • Do not get a BIA test if you have a fever.
  • Do not get a BIA if there is any chance you could be pregnant.

The BIA Procedure

bia2The procedure consists of lying still for five minutes.  The electrodes are attached as pictured below.  Your phase angle will be available immediately after the test.  An explanation and/or printout of your complete results is also available after the test for an  additional fee.
